Oct 01, 2014  When NI decided to refresh their S2 and S4 lineup with the MK2 updates, they added a pretty major feature: support for Traktor DJ for iPad. The S2 is not pushing the innovation envelope, but is still one of the best options for Traktor-based DJs. If you like Traktor DJ and want to use that going forward, this is the recommendation I would give. Traktor Pro is a product developed by Native Instruments. This site is not directly affiliated with Native Instruments. All trademarks, registered trademarks, product names and company names or logos mentioned herein are the property of their respective owners.

To avoid any messages, GO STEP BY STEP. It's not hard. Don't open your DAW (Fruity Loops, Ableton Ect.) before you install and patch the.DLL. If you use a 32-bit version of FL, open the 32-bit Omnispehere.DLL in FL. If you're using 64-bit FL open 64-bit Omnisphere in FL. 2 points 2 years ago Did all the installation and everything went fine (Windows 10)- but every time I paste the challenge response code into Omnisphere it crashes and doesn't work. Apparently this is a known bug and the only solution is to try and do it in a different host, so in addition to FL Studio 10 (which I first tried it in) I downloaded Bitwig and tried it and it crashed there as well. May 04, 2015  SOLVED - Omnisphere Update - Issue with localizing the STEAM folder. 'Installation was not completed properly. Omnisphere patch data needs to be upgraded to version 2.' While we are waiting for an answer form spectrasonics support, any tipps and hints would be greatly appreciated! 'Installation was not completed properly. Omnisphere 2 installation was not completed properly in windows 10. Upgrading to Omnisphere 2 will supply the complete 60GB Omnisphere 2 sound library, which includes the sounds from Omnisphere 1. If Omnisphere 1 is already installed, you will not lose any custom user-created sounds or third-party libraries.

Description:
Traktor S2 Mk2 Djay Pro this mapper is designed to be used in conjunction with my HID mapper of almost the same name.
this mapper only provides LED functionality.
it does not provide any input functionality
for input functionality please use the HID mapper.
it should work on mac and windows as is, however has only been tested with Windows 7 and therefore may not necessarily work properly or work at all on other operating systems.
this mapper requires a few minor changes to the default MIDI layout.
these changes are as follows:

the modes for the all the buttons need to be changed to trigger, this allows VDJ to control the LED's properly.
you can either set the S2 to start in MIDI mode in the preferences of the controller editor, or you can enter MIDI mode by pressing both shift buttons at the same time, when in MIDI mode both shift buttons will remain dimly lit.

Traktor S2 Mk3 Djay Pro

  • Hey Jesse, I’m in a very similar situation to you considering those very same controllers/ipad option so will just add my two cents. Don’t forget that Traktor has the Remix decks so if you wanted to incorporate Ableton like / Launchpad sample stuff in your set, you could do that in the future whereas with djay, you can’t. I use djay almost everyday so am also trying to figure out my setup as well (it’s 6am sunday morning where I am, haha, so yeah, I’m stressing over it as well)

Good luck and let us know what you choose (and why?)

If you really want the powerhouse of iPad DJ apps and don’t mind a slightly steeper learning curve, DJ Player can be your friend. Be sure to check out their offering.

Out of them I would go for Traktor S2 mk2 .
But if you like Djay 2 I pesonally think its better than Traktor Dj . The best platforms for Djing on iPad i think would be the Reloop BeatPad or the Numark IDJ PRO , you can use DJ Player on the IDJ PRO too. 🙂

Imho you shouldn’t use Spotify in a club. It’s one thing to use something like spotify to play that one request you don’t have at a wedding or something, but in a club, play only stuff that you know and that you have prepped properly. Just my opinion of course.

The S2 and iDJ Pro are the same price here, and if I were to go for anything other than Traktor software, the iDJ Pro would be my choice. The only thing lacking is the channel faders. It is natively mapped for both DJay2 and DJ Player. The iPad sits perfectly inside the unit, which is safe and provides a very stable and flat platform for using the touch features of the iPad/app. I like this much better than any bracket/slit way of standing the iPad on it’s side. This is prone to being knocked-off, leaned on (and breaking the bracket) and will most likely make the iPad move when you touch it (springy feeling), making it a less accurate way of using it.

DJ Player supports all midi-compliant devices, so you can map the WeGo3 yourself (not too many buttons anyway). The only problem with making mappings is the return stuff usually (like lights and meters).

Bro, you totally want a WeGO3 for what you want to do. I have an MC3000 in a flight case but picked up a WeGO3 for small gigs and iPad djing and it I love it so much, I started taking it to gigs I used to do with my MC3000. The lights on the WeGO are annoying but everything else about the controller is awesome for the money. I especially like the sound quality and the fact that I can map it to Virtual DJ to use with my laptop.

Hi Jesse, I’m in the same situation. I think you have to really decide your preferred software first. I’ve been mixing on the ipad for quite a while now and have tried out the various apps around. Cash is a bit limited so I want to buy the right controller first time out. Problem is I like using Traktor DJ the best and unless someone out there can correct me, you can only use NI controllers with this app. Even though I don’t like DJAY2 quite as much there are so many controllers to choose from at really good prices. I’m going with my gut feeling and buying the Kontrol S2 mk11. It’s not a whole lot more than the Z1 and really has everything you need. Just hope NI start supporting Traktor DJ a little bit more!!!

Hi Jesse, from someone who is new to DJing but I have a lot of gigs under my belt including wedding, hayrides, backyard parties, clubs, and different genres and crowds, I actually have an S2. It was well worth the cost, and has not failed me one time. I am on a budget as well, but it is true that once you get a good piece of gear its one less thing to worry about. I had never used traktor and now I am looking forward to learning how to use features I never thought I would need and adding to my setup with my S2 as my main piece. It gives so much room to grow.
